What this system is built to catch
Six detection problems, each with the channels that see it, the mechanism that recognises it, and — at the same length — what it cannot do. No detection rates are published on any of these pages, because none has been measured.
- Gas leak detectionHow a multi-channel gas leak detection system finds an LPG, methane or solvent release by the shape of the rise rather than a fixed threshold.Read the detail
- Carbon monoxide monitoringContinuous industrial CO monitoring: why carbon monoxide is the hazard a threshold detector finds last, and how a rate-of-change layer finds it earlier.Read the detail
- Factory fire detectionFactory fire detection that watches for the precursors of a fire — gas, CO, air quality and surface heat — instead of waiting for smoke in a detector.Read the detail
- Machine vibration monitoringIndustrial vibration monitoring on the same node as gas and heat: bearing wear, imbalance and cavitation as a hazard signal, not only a maintenance one.Read the detail
- Industrial air quality monitoringContinuous industrial air quality monitoring for solvent and VOC load, with ventilation failure detected by the acoustic channel falling.Read the detail
- Equipment overheating detectionDetecting equipment overheating with a contact surface probe that sees a hot spot before ambient temperature moves, correlated with vibration and sound.Read the detail
Precursor windows
The hazard classes named in the filed specification, with the interval available for intervention before the event. The spread — seconds for open flame, weeks for mechanical degradation — is the reason the sampling cadence adapts rather than sitting at one rate.
| Hazard class | What moves first | Precursor window |
|---|---|---|
| Smouldering combustion | Combustible gas and CO rise, air quality degrades, surface temperature climbs ahead of ambient — with no flame signature | Minutes to hours |
| Open flame | Infrared signature, sharp temperature rise, gas and air-quality spike, acoustic signature | Seconds |
| Combustible gas release | Gas channel rises with a characteristic acceleration; temperature unchanged — the absent thermal signature is itself diagnostic | Seconds to minutes |
| Carbon-monoxide accumulation | Monotonic CO rise with little movement anywhere else | Minutes to hours |
| Volatile organic release | Air quality rises steeply, gas follows by cross-sensitivity, distinct decay after the source is removed | Seconds to minutes |
| Thermal runaway | Surface temperature climbs while ambient lags; electrolyte vapour on the gas channels; audible venting | Minutes |
| Mechanical degradation | Vibration magnitude and jitter increase, acoustic level rises, housing warms — no gas signature | Hours to weeks |
| Ventilation failure | Acoustic level falls as the fan stops, then humidity and temperature drift up together — a fall, not a rise, is the signature | Minutes to hours |
