Edge intelligence

Edge intelligence is processing and decision-making performed on the device that collects the data, rather than on a remote server.

Why it matters

For safety it is not an optimisation but a requirement. A decision made on the device cannot be delayed by a network, and the alarm is the one decision that must never wait.

How it works

The device runs enough logic to classify its own readings and act on them. Remote systems add history, cross-device correlation and heavier analysis that the device cannot perform.

Example

A node that classifies its own readings and sounds its buzzer without contacting anything.

In Alfa HazardX

Threshold evaluation, risk classification, the display, the buzzer and the behaviour signature are all computed on the node. Stronger edge intelligence is on the roadmap.
